Miguel Angel Mota got in 2009 a Doctorate in Logic and the Foundations of Mathematics under the supervision of David Asperó and Joan Bagaria. For his dissertation, he was awarded with the Premi extraordinari de doctorat of the University of Barcelona.

From October 2009 to June 2012 he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Kurt Gödel Research Center of the University of Vienna. He is now a postdoctoral fellow at the Fields Institute.

He is specially interested in models of fragments of PFA where the continuum is larger than the second uncountable cardinal.

## Miguel Angel Mota: Measuring together with the continuum large

Place: TBD Date: July 15th , 2016 (13:30-15:00) Speaker: Miguel Angel Mota Title: Measuring together with the continuum large Abstract:  Measuring, as defined by Justin Moore, says that for every sequence $(C(\delta))_{\delta<\omega_1}$ with each $C(\delta)$ being a closed subset of $\delta$ there is a club $C\subseteq\omega_1$ such that for every $\delta \in C$, a tail of $C\cap\delta$ is either contained in or disjoint from $C(\delta)$. continue reading…

## Miguel Angel Mota Gaytán: Baumgartner’s Conjecture and Bounded Forcing Axioms (Part II)

Miguel Angel Mota Gaytán: Baumgartner’s Conjecture and Bounded Forcing Axioms (Part I) Abstract: Using some variants of weak club guessing we separate some fragments of the proper forcing axiom: we show that for every two indecomposable ordinals α<β, the forcing axiom for the class of all the β-proper posets does not imply the bounded forcing axiom for the class of all the α-proper posets. continue reading…

## Miguel Angel Mota Gaytán: Baumgartner’s Conjecture and Bounded Forcing Axioms (Part I)

Abstract: Using some variants of weak club guessing we separate some fragments of the proper forcing axiom: we show that for every two indecomposable ordinals $\alpha < \beta$, the forcing axiom for the class of all the $\beta$-proper posets does not imply the bounded forcing axiom for the class of all the $\alpha$-proper posets. continue reading…

## Forcing and its applications: Retrospective Workshop, March 29 – April 2, 2015

The meeting will take place at the Field Institute, 222 College Street, Toronto. About In the years 1963-1964, Paul Cohen developed the method of forcing in order to settle Cantor’s Continuum Problem.  continue reading…
