Talk Title: Compact spaces with a small diagonal — Husek’s question
Abstract: A compact space with a G-delta diagonal is metrizable. In the early 70’s M. Husek introduced the notion of a small diagonal and asked if this would be sufficient to ensure metrizability. The notion is a natural generalization: for each uncountable subset off the diagonal there should be a neighborhood of the diagonal avoiding an uncountable subset of it. We give some partial results including a consistency result of independent interest about Lindelof subspaces of compact spaces.
