Title: On Moore spaces and Set Theory
R.L. Moore, who studied metrizability of topological spaces, introduced a notion that became known as a Moore Space. At an A.M.S. meeting in 1933 F.B. Jones, a former Ph.D. student of Moore, asked: “Is every normal Moore space metrizable?” This question fueled research on the boundaries of topology and set theory now for almost 80 years. In this talk we will briefly survey the extraordinary developments inspired by this innocent question.
