Title: A Noetherian base for scattered linear orders

Abstract:

A collection of sets is Noetherian if it contains no infinite ascending sequences. We show that every scattered LOTS of cardinality strictly less than the first strongly inaccessible cardinal has a Noetherian base. I will also provide some motivation.
